Masahiro Tanaka will miss his start Sunday thanks to some wonderful news: His wife has given birth to the couple’s second child, a baby girl!

The Yankees have recalled Nestor Cortes Jr. to take his place. Cortes tossed six scoreless innings in his start Wednesday and should be able to give the Bombers length out of the bullpen.

Tanaka’s absence throws off the Yankees’ rotation, and New York will likely need to have another bullpen day on Sunday. They’ll have Chad Green, David Hale and Cortes potentially able to give the team length depending on how Saturday’s game plays out.

Chance Adams, who is now eligible for a call-up, pitched in the other half of Scranton’s doubleheader Wednesday and threw seven scoreless innings.

Anyway, congrats to the Tanakas!
