Following today’s game, the Yankees placed OF Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day IL with a right knee sprain and recalled OF Mike Tauchman from @swbrailriders.— New York Yankees (@Yankees) June 26, 2019
Ugh. After exiting yesterday’s game in the fourth inning with a knee contusion, we now have more clarity on Giancarlo Stanton’s injury. Aaron Boone noted in his postgame presser that Stanton will be re-evaluated in ten days, so he won’t be activated immediately. That makes sense since he’d only be eligible for a game or two before the All-Star break.
Given the move for Tauchman, Brett Gardner will probably get the majority of reps in left field for the time being. That certainly comes as a bit of a surprise when a far superior player in Clint Frazier is toiling in Triple-A.
Hopefully, Giancarlo can rejoin the club soon after the break. As we’ve told you for the umpteenth time here, the Yankees are better with him in the lineup. Get well soon, G.
