Following today’s game, the Yankees placed OF Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day IL with a right knee sprain and recalled OF Mike Tauchman from @swbrailriders.

Ugh. After exiting yesterday’s game in the fourth inning with a knee contusion, we now have more clarity on Giancarlo Stanton’s injury. Aaron Boone noted in his postgame presser that Stanton will be re-evaluated in ten days, so he won’t be activated immediately. That makes sense since he’d only be eligible for a game or two before the All-Star break.
Given the move for Tauchman, Brett Gardner will probably get the majority of reps in left field for the time being. That certainly comes as a bit of a surprise when a far superior player in Clint Frazier is toiling in Triple-A.
Hopefully, Giancarlo can rejoin the club soon after the break. As we’ve told you for the umpteenth time here, the Yankees are better with him in the lineup. Get well soon, G.

This team man…..if you came to me in January and said we’d be 7 games up on the second place Rays and 9 games up on the third place Sox at the All-Star break (essentially) with Judge missing a month, Stanton only playing 9 games, Miggy out with Gio Urshela and Cameron Maybin getting a lion’s share of playing time…I would’ve asked who your dealer was cuz I want what you’re smoking.
I’m trying to keep a level head here cuz I’ve watched baseball long enough to know anything can happen but DAMN is it tough not to think this year’s team is on it’s way to #28.

Isn’t Clint like 1-25 with 20K’s since being sent down? Only somewhat exaggerating, sadly.

Why do 25 minor league AB matter after what he did in MLB?

One reason why I didn’t want Jeter…I mean…Gardner back is I thought he would play too much.
