Game 61: Avoid the sweep

Losses like last night happen now and then. As great as the bullpen is as constituted, it can’t be perfect night in and night out. It’d be nice if JA Happ and the offense could give them a rest this evening after extensive work yesterday.

It’s pretty hard to predict how Happ will pitch on any given night this season, but there’s no reason for the hitters to not score in bunches against Edwin Jackson. He’s made four starts for Toronto this season, and only his first one was not horrible. He’s given up six or more runs in each of his last three outings, including ten last start against Colorado. Here are the lineups:

  1. DJ LeMahieu, 2B
  2. Aaron Hicks, CF
  3. Luke Voit, DH
  4. Gary Sánchez, C
  5. Kendrys Morales, 1B
  6. Clint Frazier, RF
  7. Gio Urshela, 3B
  8. Thairo Estrada, SS
  9. Cameron Maybin, LF

Blue Jays

  1. Eric Sogard, 2B
  2. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., 3B
  3. Justin Smoak, 1B
  4. Randal Grichuk, DH
  5. Lourdes Gurriel Jr., LF
  6. Teoscar Hernández, CF
  7. Freddy Galvis, SS
  8. Brandon Drury, RF
  9. Luke Maile, C

RHP Edwin Jackson

A Quick Note on Aaron Boone’s Bullpen Usage Last Night

The Atlanta Braves Have Signed Dallas Keuchel

  1. Frank Bellocchio

Nitpick: You gotta get Morales out of this lineup. What Is Dead Has Definitely Died.

  2. Dan

Possible silver lining re: Gleyber is that it might force Cash to keep Estrada around for another day or two, meaning they’ll have to DFA Morales as the corresponding move to activating Didi tomorrow. (One can hope….)
