Ladies and gentlemen, the Yankees are becoming whole again. Almost, anyway. Tonight was just the next step in that process, as the team announced following tonight’s very satisfying 3-0 win over Tampa Bay that it has optioned Mike Tauchman to AAA Scranton.
Tauchman, a 28-year-old outfielder, has hit .202/.297/.385 (82 wRC+) in 118 plate appearances for New York. He was only recently called up, and it’s surprising he was still here at all instead of Clint Frazier, to be honest. Baseball, predictions, Suzyn, etc.
Anyway, this really isn’t about Tauchman, is it? No, it isn’t. It’s about Giancarlo Stanton. Everyone knows that this move will precede Giancarlo’s activation tomorrow. And not a moment too soon. We’ve missed you, Giancarlo.
It’s great to think that, in a matter of just a few weeks, the Yanks have added Didi Gregorius, Edwin Encarnación, and now Giancarlo Stanton. It’s even greater to think that not a single one of them is the Yanks’ best hitter, either. He’ll be back soon, too. Things are about to get even more fun in the Bronx.
