DoTF: Sevy leads Somerset to No-hitter

The RailRiders beat the Worcester Sox 4-3 behind an impressive start from Matt Krook. They are 49-30 overall.

Double-A Somerset Patriots

The Patriots no-hit the Bowie Baysox behind Sevy’s rehab start and some bang-up relief work. They are a strong 51-32 on the year.

  • Starting Pitcher: RHP Luis Severino: 4.0 IP, zeroes, 5 K – 75% strikes…looked great in this one and likely has one more rehab start before rejoining the Yanks.
  • In Relief: RHP Shawn Semple: 4.0 IP, zeroes, 5 K – 73% strikes…unsung hero of the day has a 0.99 WHIP and 104 K’s in just 82 innings this year.
  • In Relief: RHP Ron Marinaccio: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K – 53% strikes…lost the perfect game but sealed the no-hitter.
  • Offensive Star: SS Oswald Peraza: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI
  • Breaux Watch: C Josh Breaux: 2-4, 1 RBI
  • Leftovers: Frederick Cuevas had a homer…Brandon Lockridge, Chris Gittens, Oswald Cabrera, and Dermis Garcia had a hit apiece.

High-A Hudson Valley Renegades

The ‘Gades dropped this one 5-4 to the Cyclones in walk-off fashion. They gave up 4 runs in the final 3 innings. They are a robust 53-31 so far.

  • Starting Pitcher: RHP Randy Vasquez: 5.2 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 11 K – 74% strikes…an impressive start in just his 2nd one after being promoted to High-A. He’s having a great year to put himself on the prospect map.
  • In Relief: RHP Charlie Ruegger: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, o BB, 0 K – 64% strikes
  • In Relief: RHP Carlos Espinal: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 1 K – 60% strikes
  • In Relief: RHP Derek Craft: 0.2 IP, 2 R, 0 BB, 0 K – 80% strikes…gave up the game-winning triple to top prospect Ronny Mauricio
  • Volpe Watch: SS Anthony Volpe: 2-4, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K – has a .991 OPS at this level. Dominant year.
  • Offensive Star: DH Everson Pereira: 1-2, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB

Game 94: Sure, why not

I have to say, I’m a little delirious after watching that one. It wasn’t pretty, but a win’s a win. The Yankees topped the Phillies 6-5 in 10 innings and have now won 9 of 12 games as they head into a pivotal four game series with the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Once again, the Yankees got heroics from the places you’d least expect. Greg Allen had a big RBI double early in this one, Brooks Kriske pitched a scoreless 10th inning during Manfred-ball, and Ryan LaMarre walked it off in the bottom of the 10th. Hell, even Asher Wojciechowski was fine. There were some big moments from the regulars too, but still, the replacements stole the show. What a weird, wacky game:
