Looking Back on the Year that Was

With 2019 coming to a close, all of us here at Views want to take a moment to wish everyone a happy and healthy new year. Today, we’d like to reflect on this first (partial) year of the site’s existence by highlighting some of our favorite articles since the site’s inception in May. But first, we’d also like to emphasize our appreciation of our readers. We wouldn’t be here without you!

Additionally, a special shout out to everyone at River Avenue Blues, who helped us get off to a quick start. It’s pretty amazing what a few retweets from RAB did for us at the early stages of the blog.

It’s been an exciting year, but we’re also very excited for what’s in store for 2020 and beyond. So, thanks again for reading! And without further ado, here are some of our handpicked favorite posts from 2019:

You folks filled a void. So glad you are around

Agreed. Years back, there used to be a greater variety of Yankee blogs, ones that didn’t feel like online extensions of the testosterone-fueled WFAN world Thoughtful analysis. RAB was the king of that style, not just unmatched within the Yankee universe, but unmatched in any team blogosphere. It seemed natural. The best team would have the best blog. There were other good stops. Steve Goldman’s the Pinstripe Bible was one of them, and even some smaller blogs that had a good following. Many of those bloggers eventually went on to bigger and better things and weren’t replaced. LoHud under Peter Abraham and then Chad Jennings was also always a good read, although I never spent much time in the comment section. They’re all gone now, which is why it’s good to have 314 around. My main wish is they eventually find a better commenting platform improving fan interaction. There is a danger to that too as we saw in the latter years of RAB, but community is important. A weekly chat would be good too.

Thanks to the 314 team. Happy new year all. Is it really 2020?
