Folks, the 2020 Yankees season has become a slog. It’s been pretty representative of a dreadful year overall outside of baseball. Nothing seems to be going right. But if there’s any sense of normalcy right now, the Yankees will beat the Orioles in both games of today’s doubleheader. The Bombers are riding a 18 game winning streak against the Orioles. Here are today’s lineups as that streak gets put on the line:
New York Yankees (20-16)
- DJ LeMahieu, 3B
- Luke Voit, DH
- Brett Gardner, CF
- Clint Frazier, RF
- Mike Ford, 1B
- Gary Sánchez, C
- Mike Tauchman, LF
- Thairo Estrada, 2B
- Tyler Wade, SS
RHP Michael King
Baltimore Orioles (16-20)
- Cedric Mullins, CF
- Anthony Santander, RF
- José Iglesias, DH
- Renato Núñez, 1B
- Chance Cisco, C
- Hanser Alberto, 2B
- DJ Stewart, LF
- Rio Ruiz, 3B
- Andrew Velazquez, SS
RHP Tom Eshelman
News & Notes:
- ICYMI, The Yankees placed Gio Urshela and Jonathan Loaisiga on the injured list. Miguel Andújar and Miguel Yajure are up. Aaron Boone confirmed that Loaisiga’s condition is not COVID-19, but hopes it doesn’t keep him out long. Sending our best wishes to him.
- Aaron Judge has resumed baseball activities (Lindsey Adler).
- Clarke Schmidt has joined the Yankees’ taxi squad for this weekend in Baltimore (Lindsey Adler). This seems more like a break glass in case of an emergency kind of thing for the weekend. Schmidt threw 62 pitches at the Alternate Site on Sunday, so he’s fresh if the Yankees need innings. Or, perhaps he takes JA Happ’s next turn.
YES, WFAN, and WADO carry the broadcast of this one which begins at 5:05 p.m. EDT. You can also stream the radio broadcast now too, which is nice. Game two of the doubleheader will start between 30 and 45 minutes after the conclusion of this one. Have a nice Friday.

I quite simply am having no fun this season. Not sure if it’s because of performance, injuries, the pandemic, or all of the above. But this is not how the prime years of this build were supposed to go. Wish I could get a look inside the organization to figure out what the hell is going on because it’s hard to say from the outside. But this has gone past the point of simply being bad luck.

Is Sanchez now worse than Chris Davis?

He swung through and completely missed at least 6 fastballs, several of which were middle-middle, after hitting the hanging slider out of the park in the 2nd inning, that’s pathetic.
