Game 77: Old Timers’ Day!

How about one more win today to cap off a flawless week and a ninth straight victory? Seems like a good idea to me.

Today is more than just a Sunday afternoon ballgame in the Bronx, of course. It’s Old Timers’ Day at Yankee Stadium, and I’d venture to guess that you’re probably watching the exhibition game as you read this. Hey, that Mariano Rivera guy looks like he could still pitch. The bullpen has been worked pretty hard this series; maybe sign Mo to a one day contract?

Still jamming lefties.

All jokes aside, hope you’re enjoying the game before the game. Here’s what you’ll see later this afternoon:

Astros (48-30)

  1. José Altuve, 2B
  2. Alex Bregman, SS
  3. Michael Brantley, LF
  4. Yordan Alvarez, DH
  5. Yuli Gurriel, 3B
  6. Robinson Chirinos, C
  7. Josh Reddick, RF
  8. Tyler White, 1B
  9. Jake Marisnick, CF

RHP Justin Verlander

Yankees (49-27)

  1. DJ LeMahieu, 3B
  2. Aaron Judge, RF
  3. Luke Voit, 1B
  4. Gary Sánchez, C
  5. Edwin Encarnación, DH
  6. Didi Gregorius, SS
  7. Gleyber Torres, 2B
  8. Aaron Hicks, CF
  9. Brett Gardner, LF

LHP JA Happ

It’s a beautiful day in the Bronx. Today’s game should start right around 2:05pm on YES and WFAN.

Swap in Stanton for Gardy and that would be their A lineup (in a different order, obviously). I imagine that Judge will sit tomorrow.

A bit surprised Judge has played every game since his return. Stanton has had at least two (or is it three) games off since he returned, and he had played more in the minors rehabbing than Judge. So you’re likely right. Judge will have tomorrow off.
