Game 66: Time to take two

Game 1 was a sloppy mess of a victory with five errors between the two teams, a half dozen more misplays and four of dingers, three for the winning Bombers. A win is a win. Randy put together his fantastic takeaways from Game 1, so make sure to read those.

Now the Yankees go for an abbreviated, two-game sweep of the Mets. The Yankees used two relievers, three pitches from Tommy Kahnle and two innings from David Hale, so they’ll be fresh. The Mets avoided their top guys, burning Wilmer Font and Tim Peterson.

  • Chance Adams is the 26th man for NYY while INF Luis Guillorme fills that role for NYM.
  • Paxton should be able to have a full-length start after throwing 83 pitches last time out.
  • Dellin Betances has a low-grade lat strain and will be shut down for a few more weeks, Aaron Boone said after Game 1. At this point, tough to see him before late July at the earliest.

Tonight’s first pitch is a 7:05 p.m. and you can catch the game on PIX 11, SNY or ESPN. A trifecta of options. Enjoy!

  1. BillyMartinVanBuren Boys

I have to say however, a two game split combined with news that Stanton AND Judge could be back in the lineup in less than a week makes this a great day!

  2. BillyMartinVanBuren Boys

Game while I’m work and can’t watch: Come from behind slugfest win.

Game while I’m home and can comfortably watch: Complete dud of a stinkfest

    So it goes…

I’ve been there many times. I did get to see today’s game though and it was glorious.

  3. Disappointing performance by Paxton. He didn’t have his best fastball and his command was poor. Wrong time to throw a clunker, game with a lot of eyeballs.

The pessimist in me says this is what you get when you go for the cheaper option with a short term commitment.
