I forgot a series preview for y’all! Well, to sum it up, the Indians have disappointed with a 31-31 record and are 10.5 games back of first place in the AL Central. They have the fifth-worst offense in baseball with an 80 wRC+. Their pitching staff has held up OK despite injuries/illnesses for Corey Kluber, Carlos Carrasco and Mike Clevinger, particularly thanks to a surprisingly solid bullpen.
Francisco Lindor? Really good. Jose Ramirez? Surprisingly bad. The Indians’ rotation depth is shot to the point where the Yankees are facing two second-year pitchers and a rookie this weekend. Ah, to be in Cleveland!
And facing the rookie tonight? Didi Gregorius! He’s playing MLB games for the first time since the ALDS last year after rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. He’s batting fifth and I can’t be more excited.

News & Notes
- Masahiro Tanaka may not make his scheduled start Sunday as his wife just gave birth to a baby girl. Congrats to the Tanakas!
- Gleyber Torres is still out of the lineup. He told reporters he’s experiencing soreness in his shoulder when he swings, but that he’s available this evening and could start tomorrow.
- Thairo Estrada was the 25-man roster casualty for Didi as the Summer of Thairo will continue in Scranton for the time being. Troy Tulowitzki was formally placed on the 60-day IL. That means more time for Kendrys Morales, the groundball machine.
- Dellin Betances felt soreness the day after throwing. Aaron Boone termed it as normal soreness, but #INWYW.
- Giancarlo Stanton is nearing a rehab appearance after homering in an extended spring game today. He also took BP with Aaron Judge.
First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. on the YES Network. Enjoy!
