Last night’s game was a bummer, but here’s the beauty of baseball: there’s always another game the next night. The Yanks will try to even up this series tonight against the terrible Blue Jays and keep the dream of winning 10 straight series for the first time since 1954 alive. And what a dream that is. I’m sure we’ll all remember where we were if they can pull it off.
Anyway, here are tonight’s lineups:
New York Yankees (38-21)
1. DJ LeMahieu, 2B
2. Luke Voit, 1B
3. Gary Sánchez, C
4. Kendrys Morales, DH
5. Gleyber Torres, SS
6. Clint Frazier, RF
7. Brett Gardner, CF
8. Gio Urshela, 3B
9. Cameron Maybin, LF
SP: James Paxton (3-2, 2.81 ERA)
Toronto Blue Jays (22-38)
1. Lourdes Gurriel Jr., LF
2. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., DH
3. Justin Smoak, 1B
4. Randal Grichuk, RF
5. Brandon Drury, 3B
6. Teoscar Hernandez, CF
7. Cavan Biggio, 2B
8. Freddy Galvis, SS
9. Danny Jansen, C
SP: Trent Thorton (1-4, 4.53 ERA)
Yes, that is Kendrys Morales “hitting” cleanup. Whatever. Also, Clint is back in right field tonight, which means we’ll see the camera zoom in on him as he chews his gum so that everyone can fire off hot takes about his defense and media savviness. Exciting! YES has the broadcast, as usual, for Day 2 of the Ruocco/Boomer/Cone booth, which I enjoyed a lot. Enjoy the game, everyone.
Updates: Troy Tulowitzki (remember him?) was sent home by the Yankees to continue to rehab his “nagging calf”, though that should only be a few days…and Aaron Judge “has a way” where he might return by the end of June for the London series against Boston. That would be nice.

I’d send Holder down when Dellin comes back

All my life I’ve heard a tie goes to the runner. Yet I’ve never seen it happen. What else in my life has been a lie?? Santa??? The Easter bunny????

This series is a pretty convincing argument to bring on the robots

Are we having a slump or is it the curse of 314. I thought we broke this. Sigh.
