Well, that was quick. The Yankees have canceled tonight’s game against the Red Sox due to the gross weather. Who can blame them? The forecast is really bad, and nobody likes a game that is littered with rain delays or doesn’t get going until 10pm.
According to the Yankees, the game will be made up August 3 at 7pm. We will update this with more details, including how it impacts the rotation in the next few days, as they’re made available but two quick thoughts: 1) another day of rest for the bullpen, which is nice, and 2) likely means no bullpen game against Boston, which is even nicer.
This means no game thread and no takeaways tonight, obviously, but we will have DoTF as usual. Have a great night, everyone.
Update (7:55pm): As expected, J.A. Happ (4-3, 5.09 ERA) will start tomorrow for the Yanks against Chris Sale (1-6, 4.19 ERA), who’ll be throwing for the Red Sox. Domingo Germán (9-1, 3.43 ERA) and CC Sabathia (3-1, 3.48 ERA) will take the hill on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Boston hasn’t formally announced their starters yet.

Seriously charmed season. How can so many things go wrong and still everything go right?
