Game 54: A Third of the Way Home

Tonight’s game against the Padres will be the Yanks’ 54th game, meaning that the 2019 season is now a third over. That’s crazy. Where has the time gone? Anyway, despite all the injuries to virtually every key player so far, the Yanks have the 3rd best record in baseball and are on a 107-win pace. I’ll take it. Hell, I would have taken this outcome even if the team was 100% healthy. Here’s to a healthier, but just as effective, last two thirds of the season.

Tonight’s Lineups:

1. Greg Garcia, 2B
2. Franmil Reyes, DH
3. Manny Machado, SS
4. Eric Hosmer, 1B
5. Hunter Renfroe, LF
6. Wil Myers, CF
7. Josh Naylor, RF
8. Ty France, 3B
9. Austin Hedges, C

SP. Eric Lauer

1. DJ LeMaheiu, 3B
2. Luke Voit, 1B
3. Aaron Hicks, CF
4. Gary Sanchez, C
5. Gleyber Torres, SS
6. Kendrys Morales, DH
7. Clint Frazier, RF
8. Thairo Estrada, 2B
9. Brett Gardner, LF

SP. Masahiro Tanaka

The Yanks will try to take the second of this three game set tonight, and Tanaka will try to regain control of his splitter. Enjoy the game.

Notes: Didi Gregorius (Tommy John) will spend six days in AAA Scranton, meaning he could be back as soon as June 4… Aaron Judge (oblique) hit off a tee yesterday, in addition dry swings and throwing… James Paxton (knee) will return to the rotation tomorrow.. and CC Sabathia (knee) should return to face Boston on Sunday. Good injury news, for once. Let’s keep that going.

So far the only drawback to this website is that it’s blocked by work’s firewall! Otherwise I’m loving the content! Keep up the good work!

  2. Joltin' Joe

The first day of content has been better than any blog I’ve read since RAB was shut down. Great job guys

  3. Sandman

Did someone forget to quicksave before starting this game?

  4. Bobby, Cashman needs to be fired for trotting out this type of pitching staff. Tanaka giving up 4 runs to this San Diego team in the first is inexcusable. Ideally he will wisen up and trade this bum and sign Bartolo Colon asap

    • Dan

Personally I’d sign Jamie Moyer over Colon. Can’t believe he’s still available.
