Today is a good day in Yankeeland: it’s the return of Aaron Judge. Hard to be mad on a day like that. The Yanks also play a big one tonight against the Blue Jays. It’s time to start putting some space between the Yankees and the inferior teams, in my opinion. The good news is that Gerrit Cole will lead tonight’s charge, so it’s easy to feel confident.

Here are tonight’s lineups:

Toronto Blue Jays (26-21)
1. Cavan Biggio, RF
2. Bo Bichette, SS
3. Travis Shaw, 3B
4. Randal Grichuk, CF
5. Vladimir Guerrero Jr., 1B
6. Loures Gurriel Jr., LF
7. Joe Panik, DH
8. Jonathan Villar, 2B
9. Danny Jansen, C
Tanner Roark, RHP

New York Yankees (27-21)
1. DJ LeMahieu, 2B
2. Aaron Judge, RF
3. Aaron Hicks, CF
4. Luke Voit, 1B
5. Gio Urshela, 3B
6. Clint Frazier, LF
7. Gary Sánchez, DH
8. Tyler Wade, SS
9. Kyle Higashioka, C
Gerrit Cole, RHP

As I said earlier today, I just can’t get worked up about lineup construction at this point so all I’ll say is that the Yankee lineup sure does look prettier with Aaron Judge in it. Even without Gleyber Torres (more on that, obviously, below).

News & Notes

  • Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge will alternate playing days as they rehab, which is 100% the right decision. (Lindsey Adler)
  • Gleyber Torres is day-to-day, though Aaron Boone expects today to be the last day he doesn’t start for now. We’ll see. (Lindsey Adler)
  • Is Kyle Higashioka the personal catcher for Gerrit Cole? “We’ll see”, said Aaron Boone. (Andy Martino)
  • Brett Gardner and Mike Tauchman are possible late-inning defensive replacements for Clint Frazier in left. (Max Goodman)
  • There is now a 2021 Spring Training schedule. Check it out. (Yankees)

First pitch is at 7:05 pm ET. YES will have the TV broadcast and WFAN/WADO will carry the radio call, as usual. Enjoy the game, everyone.
