I am sick of the Tampa Bay Rays. I’m sick of them and wish they would go away, but unfortunately things don’t work like that in the real world. The next best thing will be for the Yanks to just beat them for once. That would be nice.

Here are the lineups as they look to make that happen:

Tampa Bay Rays (25-11)
1. Ji-Man Choi, 1B
2. Brandon Lowe, 2B
3. Joey Wendle, 3B
4. Austin Meadows, RF
5. Yoshi Tsutsugo, DH
6. Willy Adames
7. Kevin Kiermaier
8. Manuel Margot
9. Michael Perez
Trevor Richards, RHP

New York Yankees (19-14)
1. DJ LeMahieu, 2B
2. Luke Voit, 1B
3. Aaron Hicks, CF
4. Clint Frazier, RF
5. Gio Urshela, 3B
6. Mike Tauchman, LF
7. Gary Sánchez, DH
8. Kyle Higashioka, C
9. Tyler Wade, SS
Masahiro Tanaka, RHP

It’s a glorious return for Kyle Higashioka. Let’s hope this is the lineup that can finally drop the Rays.

News & Notes

  • The Yankees activated Zack Britton and Kyle Higashioka from the IL today, which is honestly just great news. (Yankees PR)
  • Gleyber Torres may report to the Alternate Site for rehab “games” in the next few days, which would set him up to be activated a few days after that. (Bryan Hoch)
  • There is no timetable for Aaron Judge’s return. The Yanks are understandably – and finally! – taking it slow with their big slugger. (Brendan Kuty)
  • Brian Cashman said he was “50/50” on three trades going into the final hour of the trade deadline. One of them was Lance Lynn, the other two will forever be mysteries. None of them were traded. (Lou DiPietro)
  • Speaking of the deadline, Cashman says phenom he’s gotten more calls about Jasson Dominguez than any other July 1 IFA in his career. He was viewed as the second or third piece in most trades, which is insane for a player that young. (Dan Federico)

First pitch is at 7:05 pm EDT. YES has the TV broadcast and WFAN/WADO have it on the radio, as always. Enjoy the game, everyone.
