Game 29: Booooooo

As Ana wrote earlier, Yankees fans will express some cathartic boos tonight as the Astros come to town. It’s the first time these two teams have faced off since the 2019 ALCS, and the first time since Houston’s cheating scandal came to light. There’s plenty of pent up anger remaining, and I fully expect the limited capacity crowd to sound like a packed house as the boo birds rain down.

It’s going to be hard not to get caught up in the fan reaction tonight, but there’s still a game to play. My hope is that the players don’t get too caught up in it, either. I don’t want to see a beanball war. Just beat the Astros.

Here are the lineup’s for this one:

Houston Astros (15-13)

  1. José Altuve, 2B
  2. Michael Brantley, LF
  3. Alex Bregman, 3B
  4. Yordan Álvarez, DH
  5. Yuli Gurriel, 1B
  6. Carlos Correa, SS
  7. Kyle Tucker, RF
  8. Myles Straw, CF
  9. Martín Maldonado, C

RHP Zack Greinke

New York Yankees (14-14)

  1. DJ LeMahieu, 1B
  2. Giancarlo Stanton, DH
  3. Aaron Judge, RF
  4. Gio Urshela, 3B
  5. Gleyber Torres, SS
  6. Clint Frazier, LF
  7. Aaron Hicks, CF
  8. Kyle Higashioka, C
  9. Rougned Odor, 2B

RHP Domingo Germán

News & Notes:

  • Luke Voit begins a rehab assignment today in Scranton, which means he’ll be back with the Yankees no later than May 24. Great news! (Yankees PR)
  • Voit will play 5-6 games over the next 7-8 days during his rehab assignment. (Lindsey Adler)

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm eastern. It’s partly cloudy now, but there is some rain in the forecast later this evening. Hopefully it won’t affect tonight’s game. YES, ESPN, and WFAN carry tonight’s broadcasts.

They had a chance to knock Greinke out in the 1st and Bozo the Clint let him off the hook. Clint and Hicks need to be sent into the abyss. Florial couldn’t be any worse. Get help, Cash.

German needs to throw one right between Altuve’s eyes to start the game, Derek. And all 3 of these games are must wins. I don’t care if Boone over extends anybody this series. I’d rather win these 3 games and miss the postseason than lose these games and win the World Series. That’s how important this is. The fans need to boo and make noise every single Astro at bat. Too bad there’s not full capacity.
