Game 27: Carry the Momentum

The Yankees opened up their weekend series against the Tigers with a laugher of a win last night. This afternoon, they look to keep that rolling with the above lineup. Gio Urshela and Giancarlo Stanton are getting the day off and Aaron Judge gets half a day off at DH and also takes back the two hole today. For those who can’t see the tweet:

  1. DJ LeMahieu, 3B
  2. Aaron Judge, DH
  3. Rougned Odor, 2B
  4. Gleyber Torres, SS
  5. Mike Ford, 1B
  6. Aaron Hicks, CF
  7. Gary Sánchez, C
  8. Clint Frazier, RF
  9. Brett Gardner, LF

On the mound will be Jameson Taillon, facing off against Spencer Turnbull and the following Detroit lineup:

  1. Robbie Grossman, RF
  2. Willi Castro, 2B
  3. Miguel Cabrera, DH
  4. Jonathan Schoop, 1B
  5. Jeimer Candelario, 3B
  6. Akil Baddoo, LF
  7. Niko Goodrum, SS
  8. Grayson Greiner, C
  9. JaCoby Jones, CF

Of note today, the Yankees have retroactively placed RHP Darren O’Day on the 10-day injured list with a rotator cuff issue. They’ve recalled RHP Mike King–his fourth trip to the big leagues this year–to take O’Day’s spot.

In brighter injury news, here’s an update on Luis Severino:

Game 27: Taillon and Judge pave the way to victory

  1. Zach

Boone rests the two best hitters (right before an off day) and now the offense is completely dead again. Imagine that.

  2. Brian M

I guess Stanton is never playing in the OF again. Dude is the hottest hitter on the team right now but sure, let’s sit him. Maybe after a rest day he can go back to swinging like he was three weeks ago.

  3. Gerreddardit Cole

Yesterday is what you’re supposed to do against these little sisters of the poor, Matt. We should be able to score 25+ runs against these clowns. So what does Boone do to continue the momentum? Gives two of his hottest hitters the day off. And if we win today you know he’s going to rest the other half of the club to give them two days off. Boone hands out off days like they’re candy. Back in the 90s Geno would just give em some little green pills and they’d be good to go every day. This generation has gone so weak and soft.

    • Ryan

      Yeah, cause it’s Boone’s decision…

Get off my grass! Garble garble.

  4. S

I see the worst hitter in the lineup is batting 3rd today. Okay..

    • Gerreddardit Cole

Our clutchest hitter, S. I love it. And it breaks up the righties which is what smart managers do to win ballgames.
