Ostensibly, the Yankees and Rangers are set to begin a three-game series on Labor Day. However, Mother Nature could have other plans.

There are scattered thunderstorms in the forecast for the entire day until 10 p.m.. That leaves little room or window for a game today, though the two teams have two more days to get in the three-game series with a sunny forecast for Tuesday. I’m terrible at predicting weather, so for all I know, this is going to be a bright and sunny day with no interruptions.

If they get the game in, we have a marquee pitching matchup with Masahiro Tanaka battling Mike Minor. Both teams have their top starters going in this game, so it’d be a shame to miss out on that series.

Here are the lineups:

  1. Shin-Soo Choo, DH
  2. Elvis Andrus, SS
  3. Willie Calhoun, LF
  4. Nomar Mazara, RF
  5. Danny Santana, RF
  6. Rougned Odor, 2B
  7. Ronald Guzman, 1B
  8. Delino DeShields, CF
  9. Jose Trevino, C

News & Notes

  • Aaron Boone said the plan for Luis Severino is another start Friday. They’re hoping for Scranton, though if the RailRiders are eliminated, Trenton will be an option.
  • The Yankees traded MiLB RHP J.P. Feyereisen to the Brewers for 16-year-old Brenny Escanio, a July 2 signee, and international bonus pool money. Feyereisen is a victim of the 40-man roster crunch as they didn’t have room for another reliever right now.
  • Stephen Tarpley will come off the IL soon. Jonathan Holder is beginning a throwing program.

The game is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. will not start on time, with TV/radio scheduled for YES and WFAN locally and ESPN nationally. Enjoy your Labor Day and stay dry!
