Game 13: No longer on the Rays’ turf

Yesterday’s off day hopefully gave everyone some time away from thinking about the Yankees. It’s not been a pretty start, to put it lightly, but getting a chance to cool off was needed. Tonight’s a fresh start and the beginning of a brief homestand at Yankee Stadium. The Yankees will play three against the Rays this weekend and a couple of more against Atlanta early next week. Thanks goodness we don’t have to watch and baseball at the Trop for a while.

Here are tonight’s lineups:

Tampa Bay Rays (5-8)

  1. Austin Meadows, LF
  2. Randy Arozarena, RF
  3. Brandon Lowe, DH
  4. Yandy Díaz, 1B
  5. Joey Wendle, 3B
  6. Manuel Margot, CF
  7. Mike Brosseau, 2B
  8. Willy Adames, SS
  9. Mike Zunino, C

RHP Michael Wacha

New York Yankees (5-7)

  1. DJ LeMahieu, 1B
  2. Aaron Judge, RF
  3. Gleyber Torres, SS
  4. Giancarlo Stanton, DH
  5. Gio Urshela, 3B
  6. Aaron Hicks, CF
  7. Gary Sánchez, C
  8. Clint Frazier, LF
  9. Rougned Odor, 2B

RHP Nick Nelson

News & Notes

  • Nelson is opening for Michael King, who the Yankees promoted this afternoon. Ideally, Nelson will go two innings and King can get started with the bottom of the order in the third.
  • To make room for King, the Yankees optioned Albert Abreu to the Alternate Site.

It’s a gloomy and chilly evening in New York, but any rain should be over before game time. First pitch will be at 7:05pm on YES, WFAN, and MLB Network if you’re out of market.

Tampa Bay Rays Series Preview: April 16 to April 18

Game 13: Nonsense

  1. Brian

This lineup makes washed up Wacha look like damned cy young pitcher

  2. Gerreddardit Cole

Can this be the last time we see the garbage Nick Nelson please? He’s done nothing to earn a roster spot or this opener role. King should have just started. Nelson just threw a belt high 0-2 meatball to Brandon Lowe. About to be down three runs in the first inning. We could play the Rays on the moon and they’d win. They’re just the better club no matter where the game is played.

  3. Steven Tydings

Lovely game between two teams we love and respect.
