The Yankees go for their seventh straight win tonight as they take on the lowly Orioles. Jonathan Holder will make his first start of the season and second of his major league career as he serves as tonight’s opener. News & Notes:

  • No Gio Urshela in the lineup for the second straight night. He’s still sore from fouling two pitches off his legs in Sunday’s win against Boston.
  • The Yankees announced the nicknames to be shown on the back of their Players’ Weekend jerseys. A lot of these are cheesy or lazy, but there are obviously some very good ones. “Kraken” for Gary Sánchez and “Sunday” for Domingo Germán are perfect. But ones like “Gardner” or “Ford” for…you guessed it…Brett Gardner and Mike Ford are pretty lame.
  • Speaking of Players’ Weekend, these are the uniforms to be worn:

I’m sure everyone has #takes on these uniforms. Personally, I’d have liked to seen the classic Yankees and Dodgers uniforms that weekend, but the timing of this is what it is.

Anyway, tonight’s game begins at 7:05pm on YES and WFAN. Enjoy!

I’m fine not seeing the classic NY/LAD uniforms on the field together this weekend. Makes it more special this October.

(That’s not a jinx. It’s a reverse reverse reverse jinx.)

I’m pretty sure Gardner went as Gardner last Players’ Weekend too. It fits his persona. As for Ford, he probably had about four seconds to come up with a nickname. I’d probably default to whatever John Sterling call you when you hit a HR!

Good chance they get tonight’s game in. Not sure they will tomorrow night’s game looking at the forecast.

Putting your last name on a Yankees uniform one day a year is the best thing you can do. Gardy is a smart MFer.
