The Yankees take a five-game winning streak into Camden Yards and play a team that they’ve beaten nine straight times. After a dreadful series at Fenway 10 days ago, this is much more like it for the Bombers.
Still, the team has seen four members of its lineup go down in the last 72 hours. Luckily, Gleyber Torres is fine enough to DH against the Orioles, who have been thoroughly owned by the 22-year-old shortstop. I detailed that in the series preview. Gio Urshela, on the other hand, will have the day off after two brutal foul balls in a row.
So now, with the C+ lineup out there, the Yankees still have the advantage. Heck, perhaps the Opening Day Scranton-Wilkes-Barre lineup could take this incarnation of the Orioles. Now it’s about the Yankees pressing that advantage and maintaining their lead in both the AL East and AL as a whole.
Here are the lineups:
Yankees (72-39)
- DJ LeMahieu, 3B
- Aaron Judge, RF
- Didi Gregorius, SS
- Gleyber Torres, DH
- Mike Ford, 1B
- Brett Gardner, CF
- Austin Romine, C
- Mike Tauchman, LF
- Breyvic Valera, 2B
RHP Masahiro Tanaka
Orioles (38-73)
- Jonathan Villar, SS
- Trey Mancini, RF
- Anthony Santander, LF
- Renato Nunez, DH
- Jace Peterson, 3B
- Hanser Alberto, 2B
- Chance Sisco, C
- Chris Davis, 1B
- Steve Wilkerson, CF
RHP Gabriel Ynoa
Notes
- Gary Sanchez will go on a rehab assignment on Wednesday, play that day and Thursday with Scranton and rejoin the Yankees in Toronto. Huzzah!
- Torres and Urshela each appeared to have escaped without significant injury from the Boston series.
- Luis Severino will have another long toss and is then set to get on a mound Friday. Fingers crossed.
It’ll be a 7:05 p.m. start tonight on YES. It should be cloudy and humid, yet there’s no rain in the forecast. A welcome change from previous Yanks-O’s games.

As of the 5th inning, it may be more like a B/B- lineup.
