In another double-dip on the farm, the Patriots beat Erie 6-1 on the first of two (box score).

  • In relief: RHP Zach Greene: 2.0 IP, 2 K, zeroes — 20 of 30 pitches were strikes (67%)
  • Hitting star: 3B Oswaldo Cabrera: 2-4, 2 R, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 2 K — 10 homers in 204 plate appearances for Somerset…OBP could be better (.299), but the power is good to see. Known for having one of the organization’s higher exit velocities but had never topped 8 homers in the minors before.
  • Prospect watch: SS Oswald Peraza: 2-4, 2 R, K, SB — Another multi-hit game…his third in a row.
  • Going deep: LF Isiah Gilliam: 1-2, R, HR, RBI, BB, K — Third dinger of the year…power is a bit down from his 17 home run campaign in 2019.
  • Leftovers: RF Michael Beltre walked twice and stole his 13th base… 1B Dermis García also stole a base. 2B Diego Castillo singled to raise his batting average to .327.

Game 2:

Addison Russ coughed up a 3-1 lead and the Patriots dropped the second game, 4-3 (box score).

High-A Hudson Valley Renegades

The ‘Gades walked off Brooklyn in 10 innings, 3-2 (box score).
