DoTF: Volpe debuts, picks up hit in Pulaski victory

News and Notes

  • The Yankees released Pulaski 2B Matt McGarry and 1B Carlos Tatis as well as SI Yanks 1B Miguel Flames. McGarry was a 34th-round pick in 2018 and hit .267/.417/.333 primarily with GCL Yankees East. Tatis hit .220/.288/.269 with Pulaski last year while Flames hit .254/.274/.338 with Staten Island last year.
  • I cite Josh Norris of Baseball America a lot here, but this is a must-read (subs req): Norris detailed how analyst Shea Wingate and the Yankees’ front office have implemented analytics in the Minor Leagues, giving daily cheat sheets and catcher wristbands like the ones in Majors. It helped Trenton clinch a no-hitter Monday.
  • Since all nine affiliates will be in play tomorrow, I’ll update records and standings. Sorry that’s been sporadic thus far.
