Triple-A, Double-A, and High-A were all rained out today.
Single-A Tampa Tarpons
Can the Tarpons hit for the Yankees? They pulled out a 13-10 victory today to move to 17-7 on the season.
- Starting Pitcher: RHP Matt Sauer: 3.0 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K – 59% of his pitchers were strikes in this solid outing for the 2019 second rounder.
- In Relief: RHP Trevor Holloway: 2.0 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 2BB, 2 K – 64% strikes and got the win because wins are a stupid stat.
- In Relief: RHP Carson Coleman: 0.2 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 1 K – only 12 of his 30 pitches were strikes. Wild thing.
- In Relief: RHP Wellington Diaz: 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K – 55% strikes. Deserved the win
- In Relief: RHP Zach Kohn: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 2 ER, 5 BB, 1 K – 34% strikes. Lots of walks in this one.
- In Relief: Nelvin Correa: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K – 59% strikes. At least he didn’t walk anyone.
- First Round Watch: SS Anthony Volpe: 0-4, 2 BB, 1 K
- First Round Watch: C Austin Wells: 1-5, 2 R, 1 RBI
- Hauver Heat Check: 2B Trevor Hauver: 1-3, 2 R, 2 BB
- Offensive Star: RF Jake Sanford: 4-6, 2 R, 3 RBI
- Offensive Star 2: LF Elijah Dunham: 2-5, 1 HR, 2 R, 4 RBI
- Offensive Star 3: DH Carlos Narvaez: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Hopefully the rain lets up and we can get some more minors action to close out this MDW.
Madrugador
I can’t understand the organization’s preference for MLB has-beens like Jay Bruce, bless him for retiring, or Roughed Odor. These are proven commodities. What ego makes the Yankees think they can turn their careers around. Sure bringing up a player from the minor league system might be equally unsuccessful but at least the possibility for success exists. I’d rather see Park than Odor in the middle infield any day.
