DoTF: Staten Island suffers loss on walk-off wild pitch

Notes

  • MiLB.com named Charleston RHP Luis Gil has their South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week. Sam Dykstra wrote about his increase in strikeouts and command as the season has gone on while talking with RiverDogs pitching coach Gabe Luckert.
  • Here’s Luckert on Gil: “He’s been pitching with a lot of conviction. After the first month or so, we did a lot of work on his delivery and nailing down the consistency of his command. Once he had the security of the command of his fastball down, you could see him take on more of a mound presence, and he’s become something to watch.”
  • Baseball Prospectus wrote about the South Atlantic League as well (subs req) before their All-Star Game and Gil and Alexander Vizcaino leading the team’s pitching staff. David Lee also highlighted Josh Breaux and Anthony Siegler, the Bombers’ first two picks in 2018 and Charleston’s two catchers. Give the piece a look!
