Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders

The RailRiders won 4-3 against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs behind another big game from Hoy Jun Park giving them a cool 19-9 record on the season.

  • Starting Pitcher: RHP Nick Green: 4.0 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K – 64% strikes in a decent start.
  • In Relief: RHP Albert Abreu: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K – 56% strikes in a solid relief outing for Abreu who’s been riding the Scranton Shuttle this year.
  • In Relief: RHP Reggie McClain: 1.2 IP, 1 H, O R, 0 BB, 2 K – 67% strikes and picked up the win.
  • In Reflief: RHP Kyle Barraclough: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K – 76% strikes and got all his outs on K’s.
  • In Relief: RHP Luis García: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K – 56% strikes and also got all his outs on K’s to pick up his 8th save of the year.
  • Hitting Star: 2B Hoy Jun Park: 2-3, 1 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB – that’s 5 HR in his last 8 games. Here’s video:
  • Leftovers: Derek Dietrich was 1-2 with a BB…Socrates Brito and Trey Amburgey had the other 2 hits…the pitchers struckout 15 IronPigs on the afternoon.

Double-A Somerset Patriots

The Patriots fell 5-2 against the Reading Fightin Phils dropping them to 20-9 on the season.

  • Starting Pitcher: RHP Janson Junk: 4.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K – 61% strikes in a laborious 4 innings.
  • In Relief: RHP Reid Anderson: 1.1 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K – 54% strikes isn’t going to get it done.
  • In Reflief: RHP Greg Weissert: 1.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K – 76% strikes.
  • Offensive Star: DH Diego Castillo: 4-5, 1 HR, 2 R, 1 RBI – was the entire offense for the team and has a 1.045 OPS on the year
  • Leftovers: 1B Dermis Garcia, SS Max Burt, and RF Aaron Palensky each had one hit to round out the offense.

High-A Hudson Valley Renegades

The Renegades fell 4-3 to the Wilmington Blue Rocks in walk-off fashion dropping them to 15-13 on the season.

  • Starting Pitcher: RHP Hayden Wesneski: 5.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K – 67% strikes and has a 1.84 ERA on the season.
  • In Relief: RHP Elvis Peguero: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K – 64% strikes in a solid outing.
  • In Relief: RHP Charlie Ruegger: 0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 HR – gave up a walk-off HR to the first batter he faced.
  • Peraza Watch: SS Oswald Peraza: 1-5, 2 K
  • First Round Watch: DH Anthony Siegler: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 K
  • Multi-hit games: 3B James Nelson and RF Kyle MacDonald went 2-4, MacDonald had a 3-run HR

Low-A Tampa Tarpons

The Tarpons cruised to an 8-1 victory over Lakeland in Luis Severino’s rehab debut giving them a 22-8 record on the season.

  • Rehab watch: RHP Luis Severino: 2.2 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K – hit 99 on the gun and his slider reached 2900 RPM according to Statcast! Here’s video:
  • In Relief: RHP Beck Way: 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K – 65% strikes and picked up the win.
  • First Round Watch: C Austin Wells: 2-3, 1 2B, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB – great game for the 2020 first rounder
  • First Round Watch: DH Anthony Volpe: 2-5, 1 3B, 1 R
  • Hauver Heat Check: 2B Trevor Hauver: 1-3, 2 RBI, 2 BB

    Hopefully Sevy has reasonable command and control since he appears to have the raw stuff. Seeing those stats make me worry that he will hurt himself again!
