DoTF: Luke Voit Returns as RailRiders Cruise to 11-4 Victory

News & Notes

  • Conor Foley wrote up a great piece about Mike King today that’s worth your time, so be sure to check that out.
  • Buried in that piece is this news: Chance Adams is spending the rest of the season in the Triple-A bullpen, just like Deivi.
  • Pulaski manager Luis Dorante was named Appalachian League Manager of the Year, so congrats to him. Well deserved.
  • Longtime Yankee prospect Domingo Acevedo was released today, per the team. Big Sunday really struggled this year and had fallen off, but this is still a bummer. For what it’s worth, Matt Kardos says Acevedo may re-sign anyway and notes that the Yankees may have lost him in a DFA situation.
  • Acevedo was released to make room for RHP Corey Gearrin, who was released by Seattle and acquired by the Yankees today.

The single trade deadline has created an August void where teams are being forced to DFA players, particularly pitchers, nd other teams are grabbing those arms to eat up some innings. The Yankees seem to be doing this more than any other team, which wouldn’t a surprise. All teams know are using their AAA farms teams as an extension of their bullpen. The Yankees have been doing the Scranton Shuttle for years.

Curious what they’ll do with Adonis Rosa after this season. He’s one of the bubble players on the 40-may roster. Has interesting stuff. Could see him traded for international pool money if not kept.

  2. Can you believe oswaldo is just 20? seems like he’s been around forever, and he had a bad year last year.. .260 not greatest, but it’s not dante bichette levels.
