Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders: (3-1 loss to Gwinnett) They are 65-54 and hold a 5.0 game lead in their division. Their magic number to clinch the division is 17.

  • Starter: RHP Deivi Garcia: 4.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 5 K, 4/2 GB/FB — 63 of 91 (60%) pitches were strikes … Fastball touched 96 … Overcame 36-pitch first inning … both runs were batters left on for Lane … Spun some glorious curves like this one and this one and got Christian Pache to K just like in the Futures Game.

    I know folks are excited to see Deivi soon, but he seems like he could use much more minor league seasoning as a starter. The stuff may be there, but the pitch efficiency isn’t there yet. Also probably needs another year to build up his innings.

    Seems like he could be more of an up and down starter next year with hopes he grabs a full time spot the following year when Tanaka, Paxton and Happ all are potential FA’s.
