Deivi started this season as a 19-year-old in high-A ball. He’s now at AAA, and pitching with the MLB super ball for the first time. He’s more than holding his own and is showing improvements each time out. Command remains his biggest issue, which is completely understandable. I don’t see the Yankees playing service-time games with him, especially considering the reliability/healthy questions long term with young starting pitchers. We’ll likely see him in the MLB bullpen come September to help the team now and begin accumulating him to the Majors as they will no doubt plan on using him at various points in 2020.

I was at the Scranton game and the Mandy Alvarez CS was an egregious blown call by the umpire. Clearly safe and Alvarez was immediately in his face for the mistake. Not a good day for umps working Yankee games.
