Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders

The RailRiders fell to 34-16 on the season after 5-4 loss to the Red Sox. They made it very close, though. It was 5-1 going into the 9th and Scranton had the bases loaded with one out in a 5-4 game. Back-to-back strikeouts ended the rally, though Rob Brantley just missed a go-ahead grand slam. Oh well. Can’t win ’em all.

The Tarpons improved to 35-16 when they defeated the Hammerheads 2-1 in Game 1 of the doubleheader. Continuing a general theme from the season, Tampa pitchers struck out 12 and didn’t walk any. Pretty good. That’ll play on most days.

The Tarpons improved to 36-16 on the season after sweeping the doubleheader. They beat the Hammerheads 5-1 in the second game, holding Jupiter to 3 hits in the process. Their hitters went 4-7 with runners-in-scoring-position. Another good recipe for success.
