Assorted Thoughts After the Yankees Make No Moves At The Deadline

On the service time BREF had him at 1.057 coming into the year. Am I right to say he needed to then finish the year at under 1.171 to get pushed back? So he could spend 114 days in the majors which means he needs 189-114 = 75 days in the minors. He was sent done June 17. So he needs to stay in the minors until (get this) Aug 31st! He is perfectly timed so that a September call up pushes his FA back a year!? Am I right? I’m a novice at this but that would be interesting to say the least.

Oh he was originally called up on April 1, so maybe the first 3 days of the season count as time in the minors as well (even tho their season hasn’t started). He was in the majors 4/1-6/17, 78 days. Means he can spend another 36 days in the majors according to my back of the envelope math here. September plus a few days then. Seems a little too close for these fiscally prudent Yankees to pass up.

    Get Clint up now.

  3. RetroRob

With Voit hitting the DL (and, frankly, I believe he’s done for the season), the Yankees have the advantage of bringing up Clint Frazier as an impact bat to replace Voit. EE to first, Clint to DH/LF rotation.

There is just one problem. Brett Gardner will return in a few days, and both Tauchman and Maybin are already on the roster.

tbh I’d bring up Ford. Lefty bat, way better stats, can actually field.
