We value comments from our readers at Views from 314ft: they’re a great way for the online Yankee community to participate in the joy and commiserate in the misery that is our fandom. To ensure that all dialogue here at VF314 stays as respectful and thought-provoking as possible, we’ve put together a few simple commenting guidelines.

FULL DISCLOSURE: Every one of us has a real, full-time job that is not maintaining this site. That means we do not have an endless amount of time to moderate the comments section; in other words, if these guidelines aren’t working, we reserve the right to disable commenting. Please do everything you can to uphold a high standard in the comments. As always, we welcome feedback and would be happy to hear from you about anything that you think is missing from this list.

Personal Attacks: Don’t engage in personal attacks (on authors, other commenters, or any individual). This includes persistent trolling or mindless abuse. We’re all passionate fans, but keep your focus on furthering the conversation at hand.

Hate Speech: Racism, sexism, homophobia, or any type of hate speech will not be tolerated. Zero exceptions. Again: zero exceptions. This is non-negotiable.

Language and Threats: Please watch your language and respect other people’s views, beliefs, and emotions. We will remove any content that might be found offensive or threatening. Yankee fans come in all ages and in all sensibilities, and we are welcoming of any person who visits our site. Again: no exceptions.

No Spam: Spam and advertising content will be removed.

Relevancy: Please keep conversations relevant to the post you’re discussing. No one enjoys off-topic comments. If they’re wildly off-base, they may be removed. If we post open threads, those will be made clear. Otherwise, stick to the Yankees.
