ALDS Game 3: Finish The Damn Job

Well, today is the day. It’s safe to say that the first two games of this series have gone according to plan, isn’t it? The Yankees have pummeled the Twins 18-6 so far and I have enjoyed every single bit of it. The Rays, who are useless, actually did something good today and beat the Astros. That delays the inevitable but also might benefit the Yankees if they do their job and sweep the Twins tonight. Hey, any advantage is an advantage. The Yankees just have to do their part now.

Here are today’s lineups as the Yankees look to finish off the sweep of the Twins for the 3rd consecutive ALDS matchup.

New York Yankees (2-0)
1. DJ LeMahieu, 1B
2. Aaron Judge, RF
3. Brett Gardner, CF
4. Edwin Encarnación, DH
5. Giancarlo Stanton, LF
6. Gleyber Torres, 2B
7. Gary Sánchez, C
8. Didi Gregorius, SS
9. Gio Urshela, 3B
RHP Luis Severino

Minnesota Twins (0-2)
1. Max Kepler, CF
2. Jorge Polanco, SS
3. Nelson Cruz, DH
4. Eddie Rosario, RF
5. Mitch Garver, C
6. Luis Arraez, 2B
7. Miguel Sanó, 3B
8. Marwin Gonzalez, 1B
9. Jake Cave, LF
RHP Jake Odorizzi

News & Notes

  • If there is a Game 4–let us hope there is not–the Yankees will likely use James Paxton, based on comments Aaron Boone made prior to the game. (Brendan Kuty)
  • The Yankees keep losing power whenever they plug in equipment for hitter’s meetings, according to Lindsey Adler.
  • Recognize the lineup? That’s because it’s the 3rd consecutive night they’ve used it, which marks a break from the regular season, when they used 155 lineups in 162 days, according to James Smyth.
  • CC Sabathia is recovering well but he has not yet thrown a bullpen and there isn’t one scheduled, Boone said, according to Kuty. This just sucks all-around. Win it for the big fella, guys, and I’m talking about the whole thing, not just tonight.

Game 3 will begin at 8:40 pm EST, so in one hour. The national broadcast will be on FS1, same as Saturday, and of course Ma and Pa Yankee will have the call on WFAN as usual. Let’s go Yankees!

Wow John Smoltz is awful. That’s one thing I can take away from this series.

I know green has been great in the 2nd half. But, I don’t love him against this team. They’re probably going to try to get through the 7th with him. Fingers crossed….
