ALCS Game 5: Win It For CC

More of this, please

The comeback starts now. It may be late. It may be with the Yankees’ backs against the wall, in a corner, in a hole they’ve dug, etc. Is that enough ‘must win’ metaphors? Well here’s something a little more straightforward:

Win this game for CC Sabathia. Then go to Houston and win this series for CC Sabathia. Then have him throw out the first pitch in World Series Game 1. That can and hopefully will start tonight. After all, CC already has his mind made up about it:

That is a man with a plan. And true to form for the defacto captain of the Yankees, it’s a rallying call for his teammates.

Here are the lineups:

1) George Springer, RF
2) José Altuve, 2B
3) Michael Brantley, LF
4) Alex Bregman, 3B
5) Yuli Gurriel, 1B
6) Carlos Correa, SS
7) Yordan Alvarez, DH
8) Robinson Chirinos, C
9) Jake Marisnick, CF

1) DJ LeMahieu, 1B
2) Aaron Judge, RF
3) Gleyber Torres, 2B
4) Giancarlo Stanton, DH
5) Aaron Hicks, CF
6) Gary Sánchez, C
7) Didi Gregorius, SS
8) Gio Urshela, 3B
9) Brett Gardner, LF

Here’s hoping the Yankees can take inspiration from Gary’s homer last night, Big G’s return, and CC Sabathia’s effort and get this series back to Houston. Win it for CC, guys. Win it for CC.

Some last ditch ideas to wake up the Yankees’ offense
